Fela arrived and was out of his outerwear, shoes and quickly up the stairs. I was in the bedroom getting dressed when he arrived so perhaps this made a difference. He sat on the red settee, and I did the board. Then we went through the board together and he seemed happy. He listened to Lionel Ritchie on youtube then we did some makaton signs whilst he had his snack. We had popcorn with cashew nuts and walnuts. So we did the sign for popcorn with Isabella ( a finicky sign) then Tuesday, hat. Once Fela had finished his snack, we got ready to leave the house.
We headed for Brough park where we walked for 25 minutes briskly. Fela signed for the car but I still managed to prolong the walk an extra five minutes. He worked up quite a sweat. We headed back to the car then set off for White Hart tea room to pick up our lunch. Fela was full of anticipation. we drove to Birchall playing fields so we could have a picnic in the car as we overlooked he rolling field with the lovely view in the background. Fela had his usual roast chicken sandwich with chips and gravy. I also gave him some of my sweet potato soup. We brought hot water in our flask to make teas.
On returning home, I prompted Fela to change his tops, then we did the board. I put on some Tuesday jazz music on youtube, then I read him the first two pages from ‘Beauty and the Beast’ story print-out. I dramatized it and handed him a flower and mirror to represent the objects when they were mentioned. I also assumed different voices. He really enjoyed it. We then looked up and practised some words mentioned in the story – beautiful, book, chair, father. Fela did the sign for rain so we did some weather signs.
I then printed two images from Beauty and the Beast for Fela to colour. He really focused on this activity. snack followed with a fruit salad and yogurt for all three of us. At the time of writing, Fela is watching Aladdin which he chose on plex.
