Shift Report:

Fela arrived at Green Pastures just before 21:00. He was in the bath by 21:15. He was splashing away merrily whilst I ironed in the bedroom close by. He made a noise as if he was calling out to me. Around 21:45, he got out the bath and came to the door and motioned me in pointing to his keloids. He obviously wanted me to scrub so I obliged. Fela seemed very energetic considering it was near bedtime.

He had a bowel movement and was in bed by 11:15 as he was engaging in a lot of moving of objects in the shower room upstairs and asking for porridge with honey, nuts, raisins repeatedly. I had to do the signs with him to reassure him he had understood.

I went to check on Fela at 3:30 and he was disinclined to get out of bed. It turned out he had already wet the bed but his top was still dry so I didn’t realise he was wet until after waiting 20 minutes for him to do a wee in the loo. He was in bed again at 4:15 after I changed the bed and helped him to change his clothes.

Michael greeted him in the morning with tea and apple at 7:40. He said Fela had just been to the loo himself and was returning to bed. Michael started Fela’s morning routine around 8:25 to give me some extra time in bed.

He showered upstairs, I finished off his routine, and he was down for breakfast around 9:10. Emma and Zoe arrived just minutes afterwards. Fela enjoyed a leisurely breakfast of his usual porridge with honey, nuts and raisins, accompanied by lots of happy chat. I looked up the sign for ‘fish’ and showed it to Michael. He tried to convince Fela to have fish for breakfast tomorrow so we can break the cycle of porridge addiction.

He and staff left around 10:00 and he appeared calm and content.
