Fela arrived at Green Pastures around 19:00 and seemed happy. Staff reported that he had had a good day.
He requested music so I selected Plex and he chose ‘Beautiful Barbados’ CD. I explained to him that his Dad number 1 was going to ring to speak to him and I showed him a photo of both of them when Fela was a boy. His Dad sang to him, and Fela tried singing along in parts. They blew each other kisses.
Fela seemed calm enough so I took the opportunity to read him a prayer about Jesus as his best friend, and a poem about friends on earth who come in all shapes and sizes and personalities. I thought this was a fitting introduction to share the social story about April leaving. This is quite late but management decided it was still important to tell him because Fela has such a good memory. He was content to look at the social story until it was time for his evening routine. It will not be shared with Fela again so as not to belabour the point.
At the time of writing, Fela is in the bath relaxing.
