Fela was happy on arrival at Green Pastures with Zoe and Michael. He and Zoe went upstairs to relax in Carla’s office. Zoe did the board with Fela whilst ‘April jazz music’ was playing in the background. We changed Fela’s clothes so that he would be cooler e.g. t-shirt and yoga pants; we also prompted him to remove his socks because the weather was so sunny and warm.
Sunday church service was watched online upstairs whilst I finished some chores. Fela was very quiet during the service. We called them to the table around 12:45 for lunch. Fela enjoyed his roast beef, roast potatoes, mashed swede, broad beans, carrot and brussels sprouts. He had a bit of French mustard on the side since it’s Fela friendly. We then enjoyed a lovely pudding of chocolate cake with chocolate macaroons and chocolate and vanilla ice cream.
After lunch Fela relaxed and had some tea whilst listening to Stevie wonder, Chris Cross on youtube. We did the board after Zoe left. We rang Nanna Hazel and Fela enjoyed listening to all her stories, we then sang her the ‘I love you’ song before saying bye bye. Fela was then willing to go upstairs for a lie-down. He slept and rested for an hour then I went up to wake him. He had a late snack of diluted grape juice and 1/2 an apple. Dinner was served just after 18:00, then we engaged in some dancing and I invited Fela to bounce on the gym ball. He had a total of 15 minutes of dancing to Michael Bolton, Luther Vandross, Phil Collins and bouncing to JLS. He was really happy especially with the gym ball. [This is very good for the tummy even when just sitting still because he was still having to work muscles in his legs and tummy to maintain balance].
During snack-time, I played more calming music – mainly ‘The Eagles’ and ‘Earth, Wind and Fire’ ballads. After Fela’s evening snack of hot chocolate with 1 tsp date syrup and cinnamon plus pistachios, we left for his home. He was happy to see Alicia and went straight to the toilet to remove his clothes. We left his home around 9:15 as he was about to get in the bath.
