Fela was noisy the whole day but in a calm mood. He has hoped remarkably well on only three hours sleep.
On arrival we did the board upstairs. Fela insisted on doing the board and chose the cards for Green Pastures, cards, DVD and Church, and meals. I put the sleep card on but it became clear that he wasn’t going to sleep as he seemed very alert. He signed for tray and brought the cards out of their container, then insisted I sit down and play with him. Fela enjoyed it so much that he was willing to delay his snack. We made popcorn and had it with walnuts, pistachios and some pink salt.
After his snack, we put on T.D. Jakes preaching on youtube. Fela wanted to play cards again but was content to have it playing in the background. Afterwards we had lunch which was delayed because of delayed snack. Fela enjoyed his leftover chicken with pasta. He then wanted to go upstairs.
We did the board. for the rest of the afternoon before dinner, Fela was happy to listen to some May jazz music. We did some writing of letters – Fela did an excellent job! I then prompted him to lie down at 15:00 after massaging some sleep essential oil on his chest, back, forehead and behind his ears. Just prior to this, he pulled my hand downstairs and took out a bowl from the cupboard then grabbed the corn chips and put them on the worktop. I told Fela later but after 15 minutes of a monotone drone, I knew he would not sleep until he had his snack. So, at 15:15 I brought him his snack. However, he did not want to go back to sleep.
I encouraged him to do some colouring in his ‘Colouring therapy’ book with various coloured pencils. We played some new music by Solange and Maxwell, then lounge jazz. I then engaged Fela in practising some makaton signs for various foods and related signs – bread, butter, jam, yogurt, banana, apple, plum, kiwi, strawberry, breakfast, lunch, dinner, packed lunch.
After dinner, I managed to encourage Fela to dance and bounce on his gym ball for 40 minutes vigorously. He really enjoyed it – especially some new dance songs by Santana and The Mavericks. After his kalms and snack which he enjoyed a lot, we left for his home to meet Zoe. We left around 21:00 after Fela entered the bath.
