Shift Report:
Fela had a big smile on his face when he arrived at Green Pastures. He has been very fidgety and full of demands and mischief the whole day. I think he had too much energy after three consecutive nights of good sleeps. The key features of his day were as follows:
- Fela joined Mama in the Improved Health video featuring Mama Mia songs. He persevered for the full 30 minutes.
- Fela sat well for his fitting of Orthotic insoles at the clinic. He indicated with a thumbs up that the shoes were comfortable – insoles were fitted in his Scarpa trainers and Sketchers trainers. He was vocal at times but calmed on request.
- Fela enjoyed lunch as per his request of pasta, pesto and fish.
- Because he kept asking, Mama relented and made him some chocolate brownies so he could lick the bowl.
- Fela was fixated on watching T.D. Jakes and kept asking for him over and over even though I tried to persuade him to listen to music instead. He would pick up the picture of him, say “T.D”, put it on the board then touch the tv screen on the video he wanted or insist that I stop the existing video.
- Fela enjoyed warm apple sauce for his afternoon snack which he signed for. We had to get some apple sauce from the freezer and warm it up.
- Fela coloured a picture from his therapeutic art book using pink and purple. I prompted him to differentiate between the two main images – one in pink, and the other in purple. In the end he just coloured over everything in pink. He was pleased with the finished effect.
- I prompted Fela to do some foot physio with the tennis balls before dinner but he did not want to continue after a couple of minutes.
- I tried to engage Fela in dancing to music after dinner but after three songs he got up to request T.D. Jakes again. He kept interrupting each choice of video until he got one that he wanted but I think he also enjoyed winding Mama up.
- Fela is currently relaxing in the bath, and I’m just about to help him wash his back and shampoo his hair.
