09/06/2020 – Sleep shift – carla cornelius

Shift Report:

Fela was slow getting into the bath at 9:25. He was blowing his nose a lot after his arrival, and there  was a lot of catarrh. This was probably due to the fact that the pollen count was high, and he had been out for a walk twice. He was in bed by 23:00. I had sprinkled some lavender oil on pillows. Tea tree oil was applied to athlete’s foot between smallest toes, aloe propolis to toes and fingertips where there is dry skin, keloid cream on face, and tiger balm on  chest, back and forehead. 120 hymns for sleeping was left playing on youtube.

*There was a flap underneath the left big toe which he tore off and gave to me. This is from the hard skin which is still healing, and will need to be monitored.

I  next heard Fela just before 4:00. I prompted him to the loo and he took a while to get there and to leave, so he returned to bed just before 5:00. Fela’s nose was still running, and he requested tiger balm on his forehead. When he returned to bed, he lifted his shirt so I rubbed it into his back, chest and forehead as usual. I also gave him a clean hankie with a few drops of lavender oil sprinkled on it.

I next heard Fela around 6:00. When I went in to him, he was sitting up and blowing his nose. I offered him his supplements, fruit and tea and he seemed ready. I brought them to him at 6:20. after his refreshments, Fela went to the loo, then returned to bed. He requested tiger balm again, so I applied it to his back, chest and forehead again, and prompted him to sleep. He signed for porridge with honey, nuts, raisins, chocolate which he said very clearly.

Fela lay down in bed again at 7:15. I heard him humming at 8:45 but he was still under the covers so we decided to let him sleep until Claire and Chloe arrived. They came at 9:20 and greeted him then prompted him to start his morning routine. At the time of writing, he just went down for breakfast at 9:45.

*On days where the grass pollen count is high or very high, we will need to limit Fela’s walks outside to once per day and avoid the grass and woody parks.
