11/08/2020 – Morning shift – carla cornelius

Shift Report:

*Sorry this report is late. Michael and I had to shoot off to pick up some more of Fela’s sleep tincture in Leek.

On my arrival Fela was on his rocking chair listening to a youtube waterfall video in the background. Adele was sitting next to him on the settee, and they were catching up on old times. Zoe handed over that his sleep had been interrupted but that he had fallen asleep immediately on getting into bed.

I did the board with Fela and he seemed happy with the prospect of Chatterley Whitfield. We prompted Fela to do a chore, but he was not keen. After his snack we drive to Chatterley, and he shot off like a bullet. Adele and I were struggling to keep up. We parked on Whitfield Road, Ball Green. when we reached the bottom of the stairs, I asked Fela if he wanted to go up or return to the car. Regrettably, he chose the stairs. I followed him closely huffing and puffing all the way. I had to ask Fela to stop three times so I could catch my breath, and thankfully he obliged. When we reached the top, Fela immediately became agitated [see arousal state].  I think it was because he was very hot and sweaty and the more he wiped with the towel, the sweatier he seemed to become. I offered to change his shirt which he allowed us to do after 20 minutes.

We returned to the car, and he became very noisy so I asked Adele to sit in the passenger front seat until he calmed down. The air conditioning was on and windows down temporarily to help him cool down. After 10 minutes we headed to the Butcher’s where I went in quickly to buy the meat for the week. Fortunately there was no queue.

On return home, Adele quickly made Fela’s egg mayo sandwiches [the eggs  had been pre-boiled and peeled] whilst I got him settled. He thoroughly enjoyed them, followed by a plum which he requested. He then transitioned to his rocking chair. Emma arrived and we had a handover, then I put some relaxing jazz on youtube before I said goodbye with a kiss.

*This is a reminder to staff to follow the ‘Guide to keeping Fela cool in a heatwave’ which is pinned to the board in the staff room, and is also on the website.
