14/03/2021 – Day shift – zoe holmes

Shift Report:

Fela was taking his morning supplements on my arrival.
We had handover and then Claire supported Fela with his morning routine.

Once downstairs for approximately 10.20am, I made Fela’s breakfast, Fela ate very slow and didn’t appear to really want his breakfast, after Fela had his supplements, this took a long time for Fela to take.

I sat with Fela and he was very quiet and clearly not himself, Fela was very slow and wanted to communicate with me but it was like he was unable to get past the I want, myself and Claire gave Fela space and he became very agitated while sat at the table.

Claire then rang Carla for advice, while on the phone Fela was again becoming very agitated, banging the table, hitting his head, rocking, gutteral noises, we followed Carla’s advice and asked Fela if he wanted to stay at home or go in his car to Mama and Michael’s house, Fela clearly picked home, Fela became slightly agigtated again and gave me the card for Mama and Michael’s house, he then indicated finished.

I asked Fela if he would like to lie on his sofa and have a sleep, Fela signed sleep and then become very agitated again, we gave Fela space and kept checking on him, Fela then went to the toilet.

Once calm myself and Claire both asked Fela again about going to mama and Michael’s house using the yes and no cards, we wanted to definitely make sure that Fela had indicated his choice correctly, Fela again clearly indicated he wanted to stay home, after this Fela seemed more relaxed and calm, I explained to Fela that he could have a lie down and I would cook some lunch, Fela then smiled.

Fela then came out of the bathroom and Claire gave Fela a white willow and encouraged Fela to lie down, Fela relaxed and did close his eyes, we didn’t hear Fela for approximately 40min, he then went to the toilet independently and came into the staff room, full of smiles asking me for dinner.

Fela returned back to the toilet and passed urine, Fela became very agitated in the bathroom, jumping up and down, very noisy and stamping his feet, this lasted for approximately 20min, Fela then returned to the lounge and sat on his sofa, he chose to watch call of the wild.

Fela then had lunch and ate well, after Fela sat on his sofa and continued to watch his film.

Fela then went the toilet and sat for 30min, staff went to check on Fela and each time he asked for five, Fela had a large bowel movement and then went to sit back on his sofa.

I have applied tiger Balm to Fela’s forehead, back and chest, temperature taken and Fela does not have a temperature.

Fela is now relaxing on his sofa watching a movie.
