After arrival at Green Pastures, Fela was vocal and did not seem at all tired. Whilst on the red settee, he requested table using makaton which means he wanted to play cards, so I played a round with him – his turn, my shuffle, his sorting into two decks – blue and red, then my turn, my shuffle, his sorting into two decks, then we put the rubber bands around them and pit them back into the tin.
He entered the bath at 21:25 and was vocal throughout. He may have been calling me for attention as he seemed to need a lot of it this shift. Fela finally got into bed at 22:45. He has been engaging in a lot of repetitive behaviours in the bathroom. I sprinkled some lavender and chamomile blended oil on his pillows to help induce sleep.
*Please note, we have been advised by the psychiatrist and the community nurse that they are not strictly OCDs, but repetitive behaviours or coping mechanisms. We can all agree that Fela is having to cope with a lot of change at the moment.
I heard Fela at 3:00 so prompted him to the loo. He went straight back to bed but I could hear him being vocal on and off with his grunting so at 4:00 I went into him to check. The computer which was playing the crackling fire on youtube, was flashing, and needed an update so I shut it down. The church music on his phone was playing softly. I applied some ‘No Knead to Stress’ lavender & chamomile blend’ oil to his forehead and back to try to induce him to sleep.
I don’t know how much sleep Fela had between 3:00 and 6:50 when I heard him and prompted him to the loo. I heard him intermittently. On return to bed, he requested 5 and lay down so i left him. I hear him at 7:15 so not sure if he slept. He sat up so I brought him tea and apple. After his apple, water left by the bed overnight and tea, he was still vocal so I prompted him to the shower which he was eager to enter.
*Unfortunately, Fela has broken the dial on the upstairs shower to turn it on so he used the downstairs shower with no issues.
Fela completed his morning routine well, and was down for breakfast at 9:10 just as Claire and Chloe arrived. At the time of writing, he is just about to leave. He is still vocal, so staff will need to proceed with caution today, as he is processing slowly and will probably need a nap at some point
