Fela was happy all afternoon.
The highlights of the shift were he wrote out two prayers – for yesterday and today. I assisted him in keeping space between words. He wrote ‘Day by day’ and mealtime grace. He was very pleased with himself.
After his afternoon sack he was happy to go out in the garden and bounce on the gym ball. I also threw tennis balls and rolled them to him on the grass as he was sitting on the gym ball. He caught some and when he missed, he went to retrieve the ball, then lined them up in a straight line. At the end, we counted them and put them back in the bag. Fela bounced on and off for a full hour. He seemed to enjoy being in the garden and was signing at me rom time to time his requests for dinner.
We had chicken curry and chips followed by homemade muffins and peanut butter cookies. They were delicious! After dinner, we let the food settle, then I put some boy band music on – ‘Earth, wind and Fire’, ‘JLS’, ‘N’Sync’, ‘Backstreet Boys’. It was all very upbeat. He bounced for half an hour then ate his snack as requested – hot chocolate and peanut butter on toast. He is currently listening to relaxing music. I am just about to go downstairs to give him a facial trim, then we will leave for his home.
*I’m writing this early because on arrival, we will need to support him with his evening routine and get him into bed to relieve Emma.
