On my arrival, Fela seemed contented as he was watching the Muppet Christmas movie.
After he finished, I offered him some card games. It started off fine, but hen he became increasingly agitated when the cards on the board kept sliding off the piles because the board was slanting downwards, and the more he rocked in frustration, the more they fell off. this lasted for about 30 minutes. I managed to hide some of the cards which had fallen on the floor so that Fela could finish the task as he would not let me take the board from him until he had finished. I then decided to get him a new pack of cards because some of the old pack were laminated which made them slide even more.
Chloe chose some nice, relaxing music on the autism channel. Once we had changed his tops which were sodden with sweat, he was calm and happy again. I gave him the new pack and we dealt the cards from his and to my hand and back again, sometimes counting and sometimes naming the letters and numbers on the cards. We were able to end the activity on a positive.
After a lovely dinner, Fela was offered a choice of DVD and he chose the Lion King: Simba’s Pride. After that we put on some relaxing gospel hymns. He was falling asleep so we decided to get him in the bath early. At the time, he is in the bath splashing away merrily.
All’s well that ends well! Hope he sleeps like a baby.
