After Fela got out the bath, he instructed me how to do his bandage and insisted he wanted Jelonet. I massaged him with sleep oil blend on his chest , back, inner arms behind his ears.
*I need to make up some of this blend for staff to use at night as it is very effective in inducing sleep almost immediately.
Fela slept through from 22:55 to 6:45 when I heard him being vocal. He settled down a bit during his snack when I was in the room but when I went downstairs he became vocal again. I read him a poem ‘Showers of Blessings’, said a prayer for the day and read him an email from Adele. He seemed okay up to then.
I noticed Fela was holding his head so I offered to put the fan on. It had been left on overnight at Fela’s request but I noticed it was off when I came up to him and I figured he had turned it off. Fela did not respond which was unusual as he usually says ‘yes’. I supposed he did not want it on after all. He started slapping his forehead so I thought he might have a headache, and offered him some Tiger balm on his forehead to which he nodded, but his arousal escalated and he was rocking sideways vigorously on the sofabed and was very noisy. Because he began to slap his forehead quite hard, I offered him a White Willow Bark.
I tried putting the fan on to help him cool down but it didn’t work so this may have been what triggered Fela – he may have been upset because he broke the buttons. I brought in a second fan from Michael’s office. I asked Fela to let me rub the tiger balm on his feet, and he stretched his feet out and removed his socks. Soon after he swallowed the white willow bark, he began to calm. In total, his meltdown lasted for about 30 minutes.
He pointed to the board so we did the board together; he was quiet but did not seem ready for the shower so I offered him a head massage which he agreed to; I also sang a hymn to him whilst doing it. Afterwards he was happy to get in the shower at 8:50. Michael let Claire know that we were running late.
Fela was okay after this. I did his bandage after he dressed and he gelled his hair and I helped him comb it. Usually I put the bandage on immediately after his shower, but I wanted to be able to condition his hair so it doesn’t become dry.
Fela was down for breakfast at 9:25 and Claire and Dan came to collect him around 9:45. She offered him the choice between Chatterley Whitfield and Longton park, and he chose the latter. Dan helped him put on his shoes and hoodie. When they left Green Pastures at 10:00, he was calm and appeared to be in a good mood.
