Fela was sat in his rocker listening to music when I arrived on shift, I said hi and fela waved but it didn’t look like he was in a good mood as he was frowning and started to come vocal when I entered the room.
In handover it was passed over that fela had been very up and down all morning.
Fela wanted to be by himself.
Fela was offered a story/colouring etc but he refused all and continued frowning and asked for 5. I asked fela if he would like me to put his music back on. Fela wanted the lights left off but did agree to putting the colourful light (at the sliding doors) on.
At approx 3.20 pm fela used the toilet and continued asking for time. If staff tried to enter the bathroom fela would firmly push the door closed and become agitated and vocal. after almost two hours fela finally finished on the toilet (bowel movement, no blood) fela then started laughing on and off for the next 45 minutes. We sat down for dinner and fela said prayer really well and ate his dinner, fela then became agitated and started rocking and being very vocal and started to hit himself on his forehead with a closed fist over and over again and was frowning a lot. Once fela calmed he had his cake and again became very agitated and was jumping up and down on his chair, staff tried to calm fela and warn him the chair would break. Fela continued to hit himself on the head. Fela picked up his tissue and rubbed his head aggressively with it (almost like he was trying to rub the pain away)
Felas chair then broke and claire advised him to stand up so he wouldn’t fall. Fela moved to his rocker and was rocking from side to side and then started to become very vocal and agitated again.
Claire spoke to carla and she advised that we should give fela a white willow tablet as he appeared to be in pain. Claire gave fela a cotton pad and some witchhazel to clean his keloids
Fela then watched a dvd and was very up and down, one minute he was agitated and the next he has laughing hysterically.
Fela spoke to carla on the phone and then got ready for his bath.
Once naked fela got up and ran out of the bathroom and into the kitchen and then down the hall and opened the door to the cupboard and took out his facial scrub and ran back into the bathroom laughing. I have never seen fela come out of the bathroom like that before.
Fela then had a facial scrub through verbal prompting and washed himself.
Fela is currently splashing away in the bath.
Fela has been getting agitated anytime staff have tried to engage with him and then occasionally started laughing hysterically. Felas behaviour today is something I don’t ever recall witnessing before. He has seemed very erratic and unpractical at times throughout today.
