25/02/2020 – Day shift – carla cornelius

Shift Report:

Fela has been unusually quiet all day. His right keloid is very swollen and inflamed and has been weeping slightly.

On arrival, Fela was listening to piano jazz on youtube. He was relaxed but holding his head gingerly as if not wanting the keloid to touch anything. I gave him a pot of aloe vera gel to self-apply and we noticed he only out it around his right keloid.

I rang Fela’s GP to get an emergency appointment but there were none available today so I was able to get one at Leek Moorlands hospital with an out of hours GP for 4.15pm. Fela’s drumming was cancelled due to this emergency appointment.

After his snack, Fela was okay about going to Burslem park so we went and we walked around twice for 25 minutes. We did not want to press him any further as he was clearly not himself – not his usual smiley self but not agitated.

I left on our return as Michael came to cover me for three hours whilst I went home to do some important tasks.

On returning to Fela’s we left to take him to the Leek appointment. The GP prescribed a cream and oral antibiotics for the infection [see medical report].  Fela behaved very well and remained calm throughout the hospital visit. We gave him some aloe propolis to administer whilst he was waiting.

We returned home at 5.30pm. Kuda was already there and cooking dinner. I left instructions with Paige and Kuda about administering the medicine tonight. A notice will follow for all staff.
