On my arrival I said hello to Fela and then had handover.
I then did the board with Fela and he relaxed, Fela appeared alright with the activities on the board, we then got ready to head out, we decided to go out early due to Fela not being agitated and it not raining to much.
We went on a neighbourhood walk, we walked for 50 minutes, Fela was calm but vocal throughout the whole walk, once home Fela removed his shoes and and then went into the bathroom and Dan supported Fela to change his clothes, once in the lounge Dan removed Fela’s bandages, Fela was slightly agitated so we decided to let Fela have his snack and then put new dressings on.
After snack new dressings applied and Fela chose to watch 101 Dalmatians, at 12.35 Fela became very agitated, slapping his hands together, stamping his feet very hard, I encouraged Fela to put the pillow under his feet, rocking vigorously in his rocking chair, sweating alot, gutteral noises and clicking his fingers, this lasted for approximately 30 minutes, after Fela removed his wet top and dried himself off and with encouragement put on a dry top.
Fela then got agitated again and this lasted approximately 10 minutes, once calm Fela sat down to eat lunch, after Fela finished lunch he sat down in his rocking chair and relaxed, Fela remained vocal and requested juice, I gave Fela some juice and he was happy but soon after he was vocal again.
Fela as being asking for juice and food constantly, staff have been reassuring Fela what he is having for his next meal and snacks to try and calm him.
At 3.15 Fela became agitated, rocking vigorously, clapping hands and making gutteral noises, this lasted only a couple of minutes.
Fela went to the toilet and passed urine, once out he sat on his rocking chair and was agitated, I reassured Fela what he was having for dinner, he was very vocal and sweating alot.
Throughout the day Fela as been agitated on and off and when not agitated he as been vocal, signing for food alot, I think this may be anxiety and he is looking for reassurance.
Fela remained agitated on and off, gutteral noises, rocking, staff have numerous times asked to sit with Fela and each time he as clearly pointed and said go, Fela as been sweating alot and clearly not himself at all.
Fela relaxed and had his evening supplements, after he listened to some music and let staff sit with him, I updated the board and Fela went to the toilet and sat, he didn’t have a bowel movement, just passed urine.
Fela then sat and said prayer and had his dinner, Fela really enjoyed his dinner, I think he had been waiting for his pesto pasta all day, full of beautiful smiles and so happy.
After Fela relaxed listening to music and then sat bouncing on his exercise ball, full of smiles and very happy, Fela completed 10 minutes.
Fela chose to watch Happy Feet Two and relaxed, this evening is the first time all through the shift, that Fela as let staff sit in the lounge with him.
Fela had his evening snack and then watched the end of his film, he then completed his bath routine with Dan and is now happily relaxing.
The bathroom light unfortunately isn’t working again, it was in the day but is now flickering, so we have used the torch, I have this morning reported this to Pear Tree Maintenance and will follow up on Monday morning.
