26/09/2021 – Morning & Afternoon shift – carla cornelius

Shift Report:

Fela was calm for most of the day with just one bout of agitation after dinner. this was obviously due to the the fact that I had used clinepore tape to secure some dressings I had put on his keloids before dinner.

*In order to avoid meltdowns we will probably have to avoid full head dressings of any type, and use wound dressings as we did before Fela’s operation. I will speak to the District nurse about this tomorrow.

The highlights of Fela’s day were as follows:

  • Watched Michael mixing up muffins, and enjoyed the lickings just before his morning snack.
  • He chose to watch T.D. Jakes over Breath new life church.
  • He played on the tongue drum to Michael Franks music.
  • He said hello and I love you to Nanna Hazel on the phone.
  • He had a nap of 45 minutes on his armchair as he was nodding off.
  • He spontaneously joined Mama for one dance to the old school song ‘Creep’ by the girl band, TLC. This was the only song he wanted to dance to during a whole hour of dance music.
  • Mama gave him a facial trim with an old trimmer I happened to find at our house. I did not want to delay it by another day as he was scratching his face a lot.

Fela signed for ice lolly, pasta, fish and pesto throughout the day. He ended up having them as the day progressed but his last request for ice lolly was in the evening so I told him he could have it on Tuesday.

He is currently relaxing in the bath and seems to be chilled.

Arousal States – Start: 1 Baseline End: 1 Baseline Did his state change? Yes to 4 – Agitated Fela became agitated at the table after dinner. I had dressed his keloids just before dinner using clinepore tape to keep the gauze swabs in place. He sweated so much that the dressings were falling off which caused him to become even more agitated. He calmed after 20 minutes after I removed them completely. Did he have a bowel movement? Yes Bristol score: Was Fela incontinent?: No Did he have vigorous exercise?: No – Fela was sluggish for most of the afternoon. He joined me in a brief dance to one song in the evening after dinner.
