28/02/2021 – Morning shift – carla cornelius

Shift Report:

On this gloriously sunny day, Fela arrived around 9:20 with Michael. I welcomed him from the kitchen where I was clearing up. After taking off his outerwear, he chose to go upstairs to the loo. Afterwards, I did the board upstairs with him. He did not want to bake biscuits with Michael despite repeated requests so we played cards instead. Michael brought us a bit of batter in a bowl to taste. Fela finished sorting the decks of cards into two piles then enjoyed this treat. I then offered him his snack of popcorn (homemade in the popcorn maker)and walnuts with two peanut biscuits which Michael had made. Very delicious!

Fela then watched church online. I watched some of it with him. Pastor Paul indicated that there will soon be drive through church and a return to the building on 4 April for their first Sunday family service. both will require booking. I will make some inquiries.

afterwards, I offered Fela a story – print out of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ but he indicated ‘No’ emphatically so I offered him a manicure instead whilst he listened to spring Jazz music in the background.  Because he saw the printed paper, he may have thought I was asking him to do writing. Unfortunately, I do not think we have ‘Beauty and the Beast’ in any of his story books.

Fela seemed a bit out of sorts, not willing to engage in activities he would normally enjoy. He also looked tired. We decided to have a simple lunch and save the bigger meal for dinner. I’m hoping to prompt him to have a lie down after lunch. He enjoyed his chicken and pasta salad with lots of veg. He especially enjoyed his ice cream and gingerbread men – big and small to make a family. He is currently listening to music after just having had his cup of tea.
