29/07/2021 – Morning & Afternoon shift – carla cornelius

Shift Report:

Fela chose to go to Flip out instead of the gym. So Michael and I arrived just before 9:30. we had a quick handover with Claire then left for Flip Out. Fela was very quiet but smiled from time to time on the car journey. We arrived just after 10:00 and there was a queue but still relatively quiet. Fela started jumping at 10:15. After 15 minutes, he wanted to take his socks off, but we encouraged him to go on again for a bit longer. He did another 10 minutes then signed for car. We went to the disability loo to prompt him to change his wet clothes, then he signed for upstairs so we decided to go to the cafe for a drink and his snack of fruit. We all had a Volvic orange from the fridge.

We stopped at Lidl and Sainsbury’s to pick up a few things; Michael and Fela stayed in the car whilst I quickly popped in. Fela was in a good mood, and I explained everything I was happening with speech and signing. We arrived home at 12:30 and then Michael quickly made some roast beef sandwiches for Fela’s lunch which he had with a variety of crisps and guerkins.

After lunch, Fela chose to have a shoulder and foot massager. He then requested a foot spa. I played the Causeway Prospects singing and signing of Christian songs part 2 on DVD for Fela to watch. He was not concentrating very well because Michael was in the kitchen mixing up the batter for peanut butter cookies. Fela was given the bowl to lick as the footspa came to an end.

We watched T. D. Jakes on youtube as we ate our fruit and yogurt snack. I offered Fela the tongue drum to play which he seemed to want but he only played for a few minutes before he signed for “finished”. So I offered him the tennis balls for foot physio ball rolling which he did for a few minutes. Afterwards, he listened to cafe jazz beach music whilst using the aloe leaves to rub on his keloids.

After dinner, Fela was not keen on dancing so he watched Mama dancing as he continued to rub aloe on his keloids. He is currently relaxing in the bath.

All in all, he has had a positive day and has been in a good mood. All supplements were administered.
