Pre-op assessment at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham on 11/08/2021

The nurse, Geri, went through Fela's medical information and asked some questions. Afterwards she took some blood from Fela in order to test so they can have a matching sample on standby in the unlikely event he should need blood during his operation.

The anaesthetist answered our questions and concerns about blood transfusions, and requested that we stop the sleep tincture before the op, and do our best to reduce the kalms and sleepwell tea.
He explained that he will not be the anaesthetist on duty on the day of the op.

He said that I will be allowed into the operating theatre ante-room where Fela will have a gas mask to put him to sleep and oxygen tube put down his windpipe. The procedure should last no longer than two hours.

Mr Singh, the plastic surgeon, was not at the consultation but will be available before the op for any questions.
