Fela Chore – Choice of Chores

*Fela now has his own Yellow spray bottle and kitchen roll or green cloth. This is for Fela to clean the table and other surfaces with, as he seems to like doing this. The bottle can be filled with a vinegar solution: 1 part white vinegar to 10 parts water then label ‘Fela’ so we know it’s just for Fela to use. If Fela does lick, he will not be ingesting any harmful chemicals.

Fela is very good at imitating so this is a good way to teach him new skills e.g. folding clothes neatly.

Fela has a choice of chores :

• Chopping up fruit salad [This will need to be done before makaton or fter education at home depending on when he is due to have his  berry medley snack]
• hanging clothes on line outside if the weather is conducive e.g. handing pegs to member of staff, pegging clothes, removing dry clothes from line
• wiping surfaces indoors e.g. dining table, side tables
• sweeping dining room floor
• hoovering carpet in lounge
• cleaning shoes
• folding towels, bedding, blankets & pairing socks (this will be easy for Fela if he is feeling lethargic)
  
• wiping TEACCH folders including cards
• washing up dishes;
• drying dishes
• after washing the dishes
• Put a set of cutlery  x 2   in the drawer  in the dining room: forks, knives, spoons, teaspoons.
• wiping chairs.

You might wish to add to these, but keep it short and simple and give him lots of praise.
