Some of these makaton signs are already familiar to Fela, but it’s good to practise old ones as well as learn new ones.  They are words he is likely to use in his everyday life. You may not be able to do all in one go but do a few each day:

Reading targets:

The emphasis is on getting Fela to concentrate and listen  as well as follow the words with his forefinger.

Read as much as you can. Aim for a page a day.

You can emphasise the key words through repetition, and practise the makaton signs for each day.

Lyrics

Tale as old as time
True as it can be
Barely even friends
Then somebody bends
Unexpectedly
Just a little change
Small to say the least
Both a little scared
Neither one prepared
Beauty and the Beast
Ever just the same
Ever a surprise
Ever as before
Ever just as sure
As the sun will rise
Tale as old as time
Tune as old as song
Bittersweet and strange
Finding you can change
Learning you were wrong
Certain as the sun
Rising in the east
Tale as old as time
Song as old as rhyme
Beauty and the Beast
Tale as old as time
Song as old as rhyme
Beauty and the Beast
