Education at Home: Storytime – Fela Choice of Books

*Prompt Fela to go to his library and choose a book to read.

You can use the opportunity to have a quick chat with him about the story and the emotions of the characters.

You can show Fela when it’s time to ‘finish’ reading.

If Fela isn’t keen to choose a book you can choose one of the following from the series:

Aesop’s Fables – 5 illustrated Books from Liz, Fela’s teacher

• The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse.

• The Ant and the Grasshopper

• The Lion and the Mouse.

• The Hare & the Tortoise

• The Boy who cried Wolf.

Method:

• Show Fela all five books and prompt him to choose the one he wants to read each day.
• Put the others back in the library so he won’t insist you read all of them.
• Prompt Fela to sit on the brown settee to your left, and put your hand lightly on his right hand and gently guide his forefinger to follow underneath the words as you read.
• Read as much as Fela will tolerate and time will allow.
• Try your best to read with drama and emotion.
• Well done, Fela!
