Shift Report:
When Fela arrived at Green Pastures around 10:45, he was clearly in a good mood. The highlights of the day were:
- I massaged Fela with Tiger balm on the back and front of his neck, behind his ears and forehead. I was prompted by his sneeze and the fact that he was mouth breathing – nothing too serious but I wanted to relieve any nasal congestion as the pollen count was high.
- Watching a BBC livestream of the horseguards parade, the fly over with jet smoke in red, white and blue; the queen and her family waving from the balcony of Buckingham palace. I tried to explain everything to him as simply as possible and he was genuinely chuffed.
- Mama singing and signing the national anthem to Fela whenever the tune played on TV.
- It was only in the afternoon when I checked the activity planner that I realised he had been booked for Green Door. The Team Fela distractions caused it to slip from my mind. I rang with a message of apology for the belated cancellation.
- I gave Fela a manicure and pedicure which he thoroughly enjoyed as it involved finger and nail filing to smooth out rough areas and edges, applying nail hardener and almond oil to his hands and feet. I let his feet air the whole afternoon from 13:15.
- Fela enjoyed his lunch of pasta, fish and pesto with ketchup which he had requested since his arrival. Afterwards, he and Mama enjoyed an ice cream cone each.
- I cleaned Fela’s keloids and applied a plaster and aloe propolis.
- I gave Fela a choice of print-outs to colour based on the theme of the platinum Jubilee celebrations – royal horse guard or the queen. He chose the royal horseguard and showed me the sign for horse when I asked him. I had more than one picture of the horseguard so I decided to lead the colouring of mine, and he could copy on his. He did a good job of changing the colours and staying within the lines.
Marc and Emma T came to pick him up around 16:45. He was very happy on their departure.

Once Fela arrived, it took a while to settle, and I wanted him to see the livestream of the horseguards parade, the trooping of the colour and the queen waving on the balcony.
