This morning, we received the handover from Esther, and the petty cash was signed. Upon starting the shift, Fela was in the lounge but appeared agitated and displayed aggressive behavior. To manage the situation, we maintained a calm approach and allowed him personal space to self-regulate. During this time, Fela was vocal and continued to show signs of distress. Mama called to provide guidance on how to support him, advising us on strategies to help him settle. Following this, we continued to observe him while ensuring his environment remained calm and structured.
After some time, Fela began to calm down, and we offered him a snack and a drink, which he accepted well. As the day progressed, lunch was prepared, and we all ate together. By this point, Fela was settled and in a better mood. Following lunch, we offered him a nap to help him rest, which he accepted.
In the afternoon, we engaged in a Makaton session, which Fela participated in positively. This was followed by storytime, where we successfully read two stories together. He remained engaged throughout the session, responding well to the activity. Later in the afternoon, we provided him with another snack and drink before proceeding with his foot physiotherapy exercises. The session went smoothly, and Fela cooperated well.
Towards the end of the shift, Mina arrived for the evening shift. A full handover was provided, detailing the events of the day, Fela’s mood, and the activities completed. The petty cash was signed again before concluding the shift.
