08/07/2021 – Evening shift – carla cornelius

Shift Report:

Fela arrived at Green Pastures around 17:00. He looked relaxed and Nadia and Daniel passed over that he had had  a good day. The highlights of the evening were that he:

  • kept signing  for “cooking”, “butter”, “egg” and “yogurt”. I finally realised that he meant the ingredients that he saw Michael putting in the mixing bowl to make the muffins. I managed his expectations by telling him he could have muffins after dinner and that Michael will do “baking” on Sunday.
  • I did the board and offered Fela the choice between storytime, cards or cutting out. He chose cutting out. Fela cut out pictures of a settee, armchair and pictures of different faces all from a magazine. He seemed to enjoy this.
  • Fela was treated to a special dinner of liver, onions and mash with broccoli – one of Michael’s favourites.
  • After dinner, we telephoned Nanna Hazel and finally got through. Due to the storm she had to endure five days without electricity. Fela was laughing as he eavesdropped on the conversation because Nanna loves sharing amusing stories.
  • Fela was not keen on any exercise. I put on Walk at home with Nick and ended up doing it myself for 15 minutes. Fela was also not keen on bouncing on the gym ball. He was busy picking then rubbing aloe on his keloids which seemed to be affecting him a lot tonight, probably sue to the heat and humidity.
  • I put on  background sea, surf and underwater ambience from youtube to help relax him as he had his evening snack.

At the time of writing he is relaxing in the bath.

Arousal States – Start: 1 Baseline End: 1 Baseline Did his state change? No to Did he have a bowel movement? No Bristol score: Was Fela incontinent?: No Did he have vigorous exercise?: No – Why no exercise? Fela was very lethargic probably due to the heat, and he was more focused on scratching his keloids or rubbing them with the aloe vera leaf to soothe them.
