Shift Report:
All in all, it was a positive day but the journey to and from the hospital was quite tiring. The following are the highlights of the day:
- We left Green Pastures at 9:45.
- We stopped at Hilton Park services to use the loo after Fela indicated that he needed the loo.
- We arrived at the hospital at 11:15. Fela dashed to the loo practically dragging Michael and I by the hand. We directed him to the loo he had used on a previous visit with Michael.
- We checked in at the digital cubicle, then went into the waiting room.
- Within 5 minutes we were ushered into a small room for privacy. Fela calmed instantly.
- 2 nurses came to attend to us just before 12:00. A doctor from Plastics also came and spoke to us. The nurse took Fela’s temperature and blood pressure. We were given more dressings and the nurse re-dressed Fela’s face. I talked Fela through each step and did makaton signing for him.
- We left the hospital at 13:20 after picking up a prescription from the pharmacy. I shared a banana with Fela as we were waiting.
- We stopped at a nearby park – Manor Farm park, to eat lunch at a picnic table.
- We took the scenic route home to avoid the motorway and arrived home at 16:30. When we were closer to home, Fela had his snack. Fela had been nodding off in the car.
- I re-bandaged Fela’s face because the scab was a bit wet in bits.
- I gave Fela some juice as I had not wanted him to drink too much during the car journey.
- Michael offered him a film as we decompressed. He chose ‘Happy Feet 2’.
- I did the board with Fela.
- I rang Nanna Hazel to tell her about the hospital visit.
- We enjoyed a takeaway of fish and chips with curry sauce, mushy peas and onion rings from Milton Chippy.
- Fela was not interested in any exercise after dinner despite prompting. He was fidgeting with his bandaged which I had to re-inforce as it came loose. He looked tired and out of sorts.
- He is currently soaking in the bath.

We were ushered into a room on our own after 5 minutes. Did he have a bowel movement?
